KODAK STILL FILM
A Historic Return for Eastman Kodak
Big news for fans of the iconic yellow-film brand: Kodak is launching two new 35mm color negative films, Kodacolor 100 and Kodacolor 200.
This is a historic turning point: for the first time in over 13 years, Eastman Kodak is distributing photo films directly, without going through Kodak Alaris, which handles the famous Portra, Gold, UltraMax, and Ektar films. Until now, Eastman Kodak focused primarily on manufacturing and selling Super 8 and 16mm motion picture film.
This return to still photography marks a major shift in the market, as there are now two “Kodaks” coexisting at a time when film demand has never been higher...
Kodacolor 100 & Kodacolor 200, 35mm, 36 exposures

According to the press release, these two films will initially be available in stores and online in the U.S. and Canada. Naturally, we hope they will cross the Atlantic soon and reach Europe.

Kodacolor: an historic Name
The Kodacolor name is well-known, dating back to 1942, when Eastman Kodak launched the first widely available consumer color negative film. At the time, this film, paired with a simplified printing process, completely changed the way people photographed, making color photography accessible to everyone.
Kodacolor followed the famous Kodachrome, a slide film known for its quality but far more complex to develop.
What's next?
These two “new” emulsions don’t appear to be entirely unprecedented (we’ll see once we test them), but their release confirms a clear trend: Eastman Kodak is investing in still photography again. After the launch of the Kodak Super 8 Camera and the return of Ektachrome 100D, this new announcement shows that Kodak is betting on the future of photo film — much to our delight! We hope this momentum continues, and we’re eagerly awaiting what comes next.
