HARMAN PHŒNIX II 200
Harman’s Phœnix is back with an all-new formulation!
Still full of character, but now with improved contrast, finer grain, better highlight and shadow rendering, and increased sharpness. As a second-generation film, it differs from the original released in December 2023 through its new components, entirely re-engineered with new dyes for a completely new chemical formula.
Less bold and unpredictable than the original, the Phœnix II nevertheless retains plenty of character for a distinctly analog rendering. The improvements in contrast, grain, and sharpness allow for better detail retention in shadows and highlights, while offering greater flexibility in exposure latitude.
If you’re looking for a film that stands out from the classics like Kodak or Fuji—faithful to reality yet with a hint of the unexpected—this film is made for you. Throughout this article, you’ll find sample photos taken by our lab technician Gab, shot on 120 format with a Fuji GW670 ii.
Scanning has also been optimized with default settings, and the final look will vary depending on the scanner used. The Harman Phœnix II 200 is an opportunity to try something completely new, to experiment, and to let your creativity run free. If you’re after a smooth, neutral look, this probably isn’t the film for you. But if you enjoy slightly offbeat, creative colors and want to experiment, the Phœnix II is an excellent option.
It is more forgiving than the original version, while still preserving the unique and expressive look that sets it apart from any other film on the market today.

A Few Words About HARMAN
Harman Technology was founded in 2005 by former ILFORD executives. By acquiring the facilities in Mobberley, Cheshire, England—where Ilford products had been designed and manufactured for years—Harman was able to continue producing and selling the famous Ilford brand of black & white photographic products. Harman operates under the name ILFORD PHOTO for its range of monochrome film, paper, and chemistry.
And for those wondering: the name “Harman” comes from Alfred Hugh Harman, the founder of Ilford in 1879. To go even further back in history, it was in the small English town of Ilford that Mr. Harman first created his brand!
