POLAROID EMULSION LIFT

Emulsion lifting is a technique that allows you to break down a Polaroid photo. The image peels off as a very thin film, which can then be transferred onto a whole lot of different surfaces. Let your imagination run wild! With a little practice, this method allows you to work with your images in a really creative ways. 

Let's go!

The first step is almost too simple. You print a photo of your choice using a small machine: the Polaroid Lab, an instant printer. It takes a photo of your phone screen and your image comes out as an authentic Polaroid in a matter of seconds. You can use your favorite photos, the hardest part is choosing.  

A little patience while your image is being revealed...

Then it's time to cut! Raul, our expert, shows you the insides of a Polaroid. He literally teaches you how to cut and seperate the layers of your image. You'll discover what's hidden beneath a Polaroid.  

Then, all you have to do is dip your photo in warm water and watch the magic happen. Little by little, the emulsion, the thin layer that contains the image, will peel away. When your image is finally free, it's up to you! Gently slide the floating image onto a piece of glass, then onto paper. 

And then comes the beautiful part: the creases, the tears, the little details make the image uniquely charming.
