That’s a wrap on the 15th edition of our analog photo contest, which this year revolved around the theme “Behind the Scenes.” Over four weeks, 390 participants from Paris, Lyon, and Bordeaux rose to the challenge of capturing 12 photos using a Pentax 17 camera and a roll of Nation Photo 400 film.
JURY DELIBERATION
Our jury — made up of Odieux Boby, Lucie Sassiat, Jérémie Villet, Enzo Lefort, William Keo, Eloi Robert de Cournon, Lao Ségur, Camille Claudet, Morgan Roué et Benoît Baume gathered at Dock B on Friday, June 20 to select the top 3 winners and jury favorites. Armed with white gloves and a great deal of patience, they spent several intense hours debating before unanimously agreeing on the photos that best embodied the theme “Behind the Scenes.”
THE THREE WINNERS
1st Prize: Louise Grebel

≪ The Birdcage
Drawn into this fake sky where the eye will never meet the horizon, I realize: the space has flattened itself into the shape of a cage. My gaze peers through the mesh, into an image where even real birds have stopped flying. But this compressed world spills over and already contains within it the idea of elsewhere, beyond the off-screen. Beyond the set. ≫

2nd Prize: Marine Foni

≪ Standing in the center of an old racetrack in rural surroundings: Paris. More compact, deserted, hollow, and artificial — it waits for something to happen. The back of the set is already built, the photo is taken, but the restless passersby will only be seen through surveillance cameras. ≫

3rd Prize: Tim Fable

≪ Where does real joy hide?
It was probably the last shot of the roll. I had advanced the film, and it jammed. A frame... or nothing at all. I saw a tiny puppet theater. The show had just ended, everyone was gone, except for a little girl who desperately wanted to go back. I thought: maybe we too, like her, want to step behind the scenes in order to truly live, like children do. So I took the picture. ≫
